Varidesk Standing Desks: A Pre-Install Checklist from Someone Who Learned the Hard Way

It doesn't apply to laboratory environments where eye-to-microscope distance matters more than elbow height, or to anyone with a diagnosed musculoskeletal condition. For those cases, work with an ergonomist or physical therapist. I'm not one, and pretending otherwise would be exactly the mistake I've spent years documenting.

Also, while I'm a fan of Varidesk, the brand isn't right for every situation. If your workspace needs a custom-height built-in desk that matches existing millwork, buy from a local commercial furniture dealer who can handle on-site modifications. A height-adjustable standing desk is a tool, not a magic fix. The right tool for the wrong job is still the wrong tool.
